Following a  preparatory meeting in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, Southwark (UK) and the Canaries (ES) successfully applied for a joint, collaborative education project on the theme of language teaching.

-LANGUAGE LEARNING MATTERS- is the title of the 2 year project (2012—2014) funded by the European Commission’s Life Long Learning Program.

How can we best

  • teach languages in these difficult times?
  • develop more cross curricular approaches in language teacher and learning?
  • support cross-phase sharing of good practice between primary and secondary schools?

Our ‘Regio’ project links us to share experience and training and teaching methods as we focus on all aspects of Language Learning at school.

  • Joint conferences will support the sharing of good practice.
  • Teachers from both regions will job shadow in schools in their partner region.
  • Goldsmiths Educational Studies and the Universidad de Las Palmas  will collaborate on training for schools.
